What happens when scientists leave the lab and step into the spotlight?
BEYOND NOW is an evening of true, personal stories told live on stage by six extraordinary women from the global Female Science Talents network.
These scientists are not just experts in their fields. They are also leaders, change-makers, and human beings navigating careers shaped by gender, culture, and curiosity. Together, they share the raw, human moments behind the science: stories of struggle, resilience, discovery, and strength.
We believe:
That female scientists ask different questions, use different methods, and lead in ways that are often more collaborative, transformational, and inclusive.
That women in science still face structural barriers, bias, and under-recognition from citation gaps to leadership double binds.
That when you tell a single story, with honesty and heart, you change how people understand science and who belongs in it.
These 8-minute stories are told without notes and shaped with the help of theater professionals who are now speaker coaches at Female Speaking Berlin. They offer a different way to experience science, not as something abstract or distant, but as something personal and alive. Through vivid language, emotion, and a touch of drama, these scientists invite us into the heart of their work and their lives.
We won’t teach you science through data.
We’ll show you science through the lens of the women doing it: from their diverse disciplines, cultures, and personal journeys.

Why It Matters
Too often, women’s voices in science go unheard: whether in publications, on panels, or at decision-making tables. Beyond Now is about changing that narrative. This evening won’t be about lecturing. We will be listening instead.
What does it feels like to live and work as a woman in science? These stories will give you a glimpse into the personal side of science: what it feels like to navigate discovery, pressure, bias, and breakthrough. Be prepared to laugh, reflect, and maybe even tear up.
“The data tells us there’s a gap. But these personal stories show us what that gap feels like and why it matters.”
— Dyane Neiman, Founder of THE bEAR & Co-Founder of Female Speaking Berlin
